Who We Are
We are the Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse (CPCA), to prevent child abuse in the Mid-Hudson Valley.
Founded in 1973, the CPCA is a private nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that is dedicated to the reduction of child maltreatment. Each year, we serve approximately 15,000 children, adults, and families through prevention programming, educational training, and support services—all focused on ending the cycle of child abuse.
Our Mission
Our mission is to Protect Children, Support Families, and Educate the Community to create a safe, abuse-free Mid-Hudson Valley.
The Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse (CPCA) has been a lifeline for children and families in the Mid-Hudson Valley since 1973. We believe that even one abused child is one too many. Through a multi-layered approach to prevention and healing, the CPCA provides vital resources including a Child Advocacy Center, comprehensive community education, and NYS Mandated Reporter training.
By offering proactive initiatives like our Supportive Parenting and Personal Safety Programs—alongside our unique Service Dog Program—we empower parents, protect children from bullying and abuse, and offer a safe path to healing for survivors. We are dedicated to ensuring every child has the opportunity to grow up in a safe, nurturing environment.
